I think this is a marvellous program. I am a doctor at the hospital and can see how much patients appreciate this. Many are scared, lonely, bored and in pain. The chance to enjoy, make and appreciate art and music is an incredible gift. I hope when I am on receiving end - in the bed and not beside it you are there for me too.

Programs

Inscape initiates, develops and delivers innovative art projects in healthcare environments. We facilitate professional development and mentorship for artists and musicians and skill development and wellbeing opportunities for staff. We promote best practice in arts and health and evaluate and document our work.

We develop programs to respond to the needs and interests of people in the settings. Find out more about our work below.

Artmaking and Life-Scapes

Artists work with patients to explore artmaking and create original works of art.

Life-scapes depict patients’ lives, relationships and memories through artwork.

Music

Inscape offers a Bedside Music program tailored to patients in hospital.

Our weekly live Music Performance Program offers performances by professional musicians.

Residencies and Projects

Artists spend a period of time working in the hospital to undertake special projects.

Enlivening the Space

Artwork and displays enrich the hospital experience by changing the physical environment of the hospital.

The weekly visits with Inscape musicians was the only time I could be completely myself.

The singing saved my sanity, it was personally rewarding and knowing I had that time to look forward to, got me though the week.
